Concerning contraceptive mentality

I recently attended the closing prayer vigil for the 40 Days for Life campaign in La Mesa, and there was a reception afterwards at a friend's house.  There was talk about how today's contraceptive mentality has paradoxically contributed to the abortion tragedy.  This may or may not be the case, but focusing on this concern can alienate those who see abortion as the taking of a human life, but happen to use birth control methods as part of their sex lives.  There has been concern about whether some contraceptive methods can be abortive at times, which I've discussed elsewhere in my blog.
